Lottery Award for Chiswick Community School
New
nets will mean cricket is reintroduced to the school
The
Sport England Lottery Fund has announced an award of £8,680
to Chiswick Community School towards the construction of 2 outdoor,
full length cricket nets. The total cost of the project was £18,905
and further funding was provided by Chiswick & Latymer CC, Chiswick
Community School, The School PTA, The Lords Taverners, Middlesex
Centenary Youth Trust and the Chiswick Area Fund of the London Borough
of Hounslow.
The
nets will form the basis of the reintroduction of cricket to Chiswick
Community School and will also greatly benefit the local network
of junior schools. The schools will work in close co-operation with
Chiswick &
Latymer CC and their coaches and colts sections.
The
main focus will be to increase youth participation to cricket not
only for the schools, but also for the local community and cricket
clubs in the area, and encourage girls to participate in the sport
as well as boys.
The
nets are now completed and available for hire at the rate of £5
per hour, per net. All enquiries to Chiswick Sports Hall on 020
8995 4067, who will be managing the facility.
If
you have a passion for cricket, be it as a player, umpire, scorer
or supporter or you have a child aged between 8 -16 who would like
to become a Colt get in touch with Graham Hall of Chiswick &
Latymer CC on Tel 020 8940 0335.
