East Enders Bad Girl's Broadway Aspirations
Chiswick's Charlie Brooks To Swap The Small Screen For The Stage Of all the celebrities that Chiswick can boast, one of the most notoriously spiteful (on-screen) must be Charlie Brooks aka East Ender's Janine Butcher.
Since her first appearance back in June 1999 as the troublesome teenager Janine Butcher, Charlie has managed to portray a drug addict, prostitute and most recently a murderer. But now the queen of self-absorption has decided to hang up her bitching boots to concentrate on working towards her true career goal, Broadway - as in New York not Hammersmith! Charlie explains, "I haven't been through a finding-myself phase - I left Drama College and went straight to work, so I'm doing my soul searching now. I've been doing EastEnders for nearly five years, so it's only natural I want to spread my wings, to learn other things and be more aware of what is going on in the world. The list is endless. I am going to sponsor a child in Africa. I want to study more about the theatre and learn to sing, play the piano and the guitar. I just want new challenges." After studying at Ravenscourt Theatre School, Charlie went on to The Arts Educational College, but left early to join EastEnders. She lives in Chiswick with Events Organiser, Tony Truman.
