Local actor gets CBE Richard Briers prepares for another trip to the Palace Popular local actor Richard Briers has been given the CBE in the Queen's birthday honours list. The Bedford Park resident, aged 69, received the award for services to drama. He already held the OBE which he received in 1989. Best known for his role in "The Good Life", he has been an active supporter of many local causes. He has picture right at a fund raiser last year for a Chiswick nursery. When asked about the prospect of a knighthood he reportedly said, ""Well, as my great grandmother used to say, we live in hope." June 14, 2003 Sign
