A dilapidated garden in Chiswick's Somerset Road has been given a green makeover after local councillor Harvey Rose took up its cause.

Southfield ward's Lib Dem councilor felt so impassioned at the state of the shared garden that he even got the Council’s Chief Executive to visit the road so he could explain the problems that needed fixing.

The site is on the North side of Somerset Road serves a number of residents and thanks to the local councillor's insistence, money was found to renovate the area and Groundwork West London hired to carry out the work.

On visiting the newly renovated garden, Cllr Rose said “It looks very nice. You can sit down in tranquility. Before it was so overrun with weeds and sharp thorns. It was a place that residents avoided. It was an eyesore.“
