Pupils excel in borough wide sports festival
A medalist from Strand on the Green School
November 11, 2023
As part of their busy sports schedule Strand on the Green Junior school attended a Cross Country festival for Hounslow schools this Thursday (9 November).
They enjoyed success in all categories and their teachers were really pleased to see that all the hard work in PE lessons is paying off.
Charlie, Oliver & Sebastian in Year 6 write:
We arrived at Osterley park for the eagerly anticipated Cross Country event. With four races split by age group we had racers across the board. We had success from the start with the year three and four girl’s race, our youngest contestant, Lily, took 3rd place with Alica and Safia coming 8th and 16th place respectively. Next was the year three and four boy’s race with Hamza coming in 5th place.
Shortly after, was the year five and six girl’s race. In 3rd place, with a bronze medal was Hattie, not far behind, all in a row, came Charlotte, Hannah and Grace coming in 9th, 10th and 11th place.
Finally, we came to the boy’s year five and six race, with around 130 children racing, we felt confident with lots of Strandites lining up on the starting grid. The boys put in a brilliant performance taking three of the top 5 places; Sebastian stormed home to take 1st place with Oliver in 2nd and Max in 4th. After that, Charlie came in 11th place, Marlowe came close behind in 15th with Halel, Anas, Gabriel & Fredrik also performed very well.
A super performance of which we are all very proud. The daily dash in school has clearly paid off and we all went back to school spirits high.
