Two Local Prep Schools Set To Merge | |
Owner of Orchard House buys Chiswick and Bedford Park School
Dukes Education, the owner of Orchard House, has acquired Chiswick and Bedford Park School with a view to merging the two schools. The company said in a statement that the longer term intention is that Chiswick and Bedford Park will become part of Orchard House. A source close to one of the schools said that the takeover could be complete by September of next year. Dukes Education took over the House Schools group from the Rentoul family a year ago. It has been acquiring private schools and nurseries across the country over the last few years since it was founded in 2015. It also operates colleges, as well as summer schools, day camps and educational consultancy services It says that the senior teams across the two schools are working closely together to identify opportunities for collaboration. For now, the two schools will continue to operate independently – with some sharing of facilities and specialist teaching. Concern has been expressed by parents at Chiswick and Bedford Park School, where the fees are lower, that the termly charge will rise to the same level as Orchard House. Aatif Hassan, Chairman and Founder, Dukes Education, said, “I am delighted to welcome Chiswick and Bedford Park Prep to Dukes. It rightly enjoys an excellent reputation for high academic achievement and outstanding pastoral care – also the hallmarks of all Dukes schools – and I believe it will flourish as one of our family.”
