Another project to repair and maintain a rail bridge in the Chiswick area is set to begin later this month.
Transport for London (TfL) has announced that it is planning to work on the underside of the Grove Park Bridge for a six-month period beginning on 21 April.
The Grove Park Bridge carries the A316 Great Chertsey Road over the train tracks between Chiswick and Barnes Bridge and is just south of Chiswick New Cemetery. It is not to be confused with the other bridge over the railway line in Grove Park which links Sutton Court Road with Grove Park Road.
Until early-October, work will be taking place on weekdays between 8am and 5pm. Most of the work will be taking place below the road level on the underside of the bridge and no impact on traffic is expected during the week.
There will be 17 days of 24 hour working at weekends as well as the early May Bank Holiday during the project which will require the northbound lane of the A316 to be closed between 10pm and 6am and trains will not be able to travel under the bridge leading to the disruption of Hounslow Loop services on South Western Railway all day. Bus replacement services will operate to Barnes.
Traffic will continue to move in both directions on the A316 as contraflow traffic signals will operate.
The 24-hour working days when there will be disruption on the rail and road will be:
22, 23, 30 April
1 May
6, 7, 8, 9, 25, 26 June
3 July
6, 7 August
23, 24, 30 September
1 October
If you are planning to drive on the A316 Great Chertsey Road at night on these days TfL advises allowing extra time for your journey.
The pavement on the northbound side of the A316 will also be closed and Bus stop Hartington Road (Stop P) will be relocated nearer to the junction with Hartington Road on these dates.
