Weekend Road Closures Planned Near Kew Bridge

Substantial weekend traffic congestion may be on the cards in the Brentford and Chiswick areas over the summer due to planned closures of the road between Kew Bridge and Chiswick Roundabout.
Transport for London (TfL) has issued a public notice in a local newspaper on 1 June announcing its intention to close the section of Chiswick High Road on the A205 and Kew Bridge Road to allow for work to take place on waterproofing works on the rail bridge near Kew Bridge station. There have been complaints from residents about water pouring down onto the tracks at this spot.
The order allows TfL to close the road between Kew Bridge and Chiswick Roundabout. It is believed that Kew Bridge will remain open to traffic.
The order also allows for the temporary closure of access from Stile Hall Gardens. There would be marshalled access to Kew Bridge Court and Aitman Drive from Kew Bridge Road.
The work is to take place at weekends between 8pm on Fridays to 5am on Mondays with the traffic order running until October. It is not known how many weekends closure will be required but normally the authorities issue traffic orders covering a longer period than is likely to be needed to allow for unexpected delays.
Diversions are to operate with traffic approaching from the west being diverted up Ealing Road to the Great West Road (A4). Traffic intending to cross Kew Bridge is to be diverted over Chiswick Bridge via Hogarth Roundabout and Burlington Lane.
Closures were originally scheduled for the weekend beginning Friday 17 June. Earlier engineering work was scheduled to close most tube lines in West London on the morning of 18 June. We contacted TfL to ask if they were concerned about the possibility of more serious congestion than otherwise but they did not respond to the question.
Subsequently the engineering works appear to have been postponed along with other planned service suspensions during June.
The latest information, not as yet confirmed by TfL, is that the next weekend closure will take place beginning on Friday 24 June at 8pm and continue until Monday 27 June at 5pm. This coincides with one of the planned strikes days on the rail network with there unlikely to be any local services on the South West Railway network on Saturday 25 June and disruption is expected to continue into the next day.
