SERIOUS
ACCIDENT AT JUNCTION OF AIREDALE AVENUE AND
CHISWICK HIGH ROAD
At
09:10 Thursday a motorcyclist suffered serious
injuries at the junction of Airedale Avenue
and Chiswick High Road in the 24 hour bus lane.
An
eyewitness reported that a motorcycle appeared
to be riding up the bus lane when a female
driver pulled across the road to enter Airedale
Avenue. The bike struck the car's bonnet and
was catapulted over it, with the rider suffering
multiple fractures of the leg and serious shock.
Witnesses say there have been other accidents
and many near misses caused both by abuse of
the new bus lane and by smaller public service
vehicles - including taxis - travelling up
the inside of stationary traffic, where many
drivers are emerging from or entering residential
streets.
One
local business person commented, "The
system simply does not work and is going to
prove fatal, soon."
