Hounslow Council has said that anyone who has received a Penalty Charge Notice in the pay and display car park at Chiswick House since May 2013 will be reimbursed. There are approximately 700 tickets involved.

The decision comes after the council discovered, due to "an administrative error", enforcement powers were not passed to Chiswick House Trust when they were granted a lease for the car park at that time.

A Hounslow Council spokesperson said: “All parking enforcement undertaken by Hounslow Council at Chiswick House Trust has stopped from today (4 March). We are in discussions with the Trust to assist them with alternative arrangements at the site.

“We regret the error and apologise to those who were issued with Penalty Charge Notices. We invite anyone who has been fined to contact us so we can arrange for them to receive a full refund.”

Affected motorists are requested to provide their Penalty Charge Notice number and evidence of payment by email to customerservice@hounslow.gov.uk. For general queries about the car park call 020 8583 2000.

Car park charges were introduced on Dec 3rd 2012 .The parking pay and display fees are from 50p for 30 mins (minimum charge) then two hourly rates up to £15 for all day parking. .

The management of the car park by Hounslow Council is currently suspended but the car park remains open to the public.
