Twenty-one team members from Fuller, Smith and Turner P.L.C., including Chief Executive Simon Emeny and Fuller’s Inns Managing Director Jonathon Swaine, raised £35,000 for Shooting Star Chase by undertaking a 100 mile cycle ride. The cyclists left The Griffin Brewery in Chiswick at 7am on Friday May 13 and arrived at The Pointer Inn, a Fuller’s tenanted pub in Newchurch on the Isle of Wight at 8pm that evening.

The route included a stop at Shooting Star Chase’s Head Office in Weybridge, Surrey as well as visits to four other Fuller’s pubs – The Jolly Farmer at Worplesdon, The Mill at Elstead, The Links at Liphook and The Red Lion at Chalton.

The riders included pub managers, front of house team members and a varied selection of head office employees from departments including technical services, customer services, PR, marketing, IT, wine, finance and even one of the Brewery’s tour guides.

Simon Emeny, Fuller’s Chief Executive, said: “The work that Shooting Star Chase does is incredible. It is very humbling and a privilege to be able to work with them and help in any way we can. This Cycle Challenge was no mean feat, none of us are experienced cyclists, but we were all determined, excited and impelled to reach the finish line in good time to enjoy a well-deserved pint and raise a huge amount for this fantastic charity.”

Sylvia la Porte, Shooting Star Chase’s Corporate Relations Manager, said: “Fuller’s have been supporting Shooting Star Chase for over 10 years, we officially launched a corporate partnership in 2013 and have worked closely together to develop fundraising activities that would be inclusive, successful and great fun.

“The Fuller’s Brewery and Shooting Star Chase Cycle Challenge is a great example of this and we are delighted at how successful it has been. As well as raising vital funds that will give security to important parts of our work, the event has helped further raise awareness of Shooting Star Chase, and has resulted in other corporate partners making enquiries about similar activities with us. We’d like to thank all the cyclists and their sponsors, the pubs who welcomed us and looked after us so well and Fuller’s for their continued support.”
