Volunteers from IBM joined the conservation charity Dukes Meadows Trust for a day’s work improving and maintaining the Community Garden and Water Play Area at Dukes Meadows, Chiswick.

These facilities have become increasingly popular with young families over the holiday period and there is always a need for help to keep them looking good.

The nine volunteers helped weed the area around the paddling pool and flowerbeds in the garden, planted drought-resistant plants and removed algae from the pond.

Maria Krzyzosiak, Development Manager for Dukes Meadows Trust, said, “It was great to have such a willing team working with us to make further changes. The help IBM provided has been invaluable and made a real difference to the local community. It was clear that everyone had a lot of fun. We welcome new volunteers, both individuals and organisations. Anyone can get involved.”

Lynn Ford, Challenge Team Leader for IBM. said, "This initiative is a part of a programme where IBM supports local communities all over the country. The challenges offer IBM employees the opportunity to make significant impacts in their local communities by working together in volunteer teams for a day. We've learnt something about our own locality and will definitely come back to enjoy the riverside park.”
