To help with essential care and maintenance work on the orchard
The Friends of Dukes Meadows will be holding a volunteer event on Monday 13th August at 11am and are looking for locals to help with work on the Orchard at Dukes Meadows. Development Manager Verity Thomson says, "We will be digging and pulling back the long grasses from around the bases of the trees in order to allow them to get the benefit of watering and any rainfall. "We have started work on this over a couple of volunteer days and have managed to complete work on the larger trees but the smaller whips are also in need of our help, especially whilst the weather is hot and rainfall scarce. If you can spare a couple of hours to help, we would really appreciate it." Please wear boots with a reinforced toe if you have some, suitable clothing and remember sun protection! If the weather is very wet, the session will be re-arranged for another day. Contact verity@dukesmeadowstrust.org if you will be able to volunteer. August 9, 2007 |
