A white cat called Elvis needed to be rescued from the roof of a building in Chiswick this Tuesday evening (22 September).

London Fire Brigade were called and had to request a turntable ladder from Paddington station after the cat was seen on The Power House 30 feet up after falling from a ledge above.

Sub Officer Matthew Howarth, who was at the scene, said: “The cat had been missing for a few days and was spotted by a neighbour on a narrow ledge 30 feet in the air with no way to get down.

“Crews used a turntable ladder and managed to safely get Elvis down from the building and return him to his owner. He was frightened but thankfully, he wasn’t hurt.

“We would always encourage people to call the RSPCA in the first instance if they see an animal stuck or in distress.

“Firefighters love animals too and we are always happy to assist if our specialist equipment is required, as in this case.”

The Brigade was called at 6.44pm and the incident was over by 8.03pm. Fire crews from Chiswick and Paddington fire stations attended the scene.

According to a Fire Brigade spokesperson Elvis was fine apart from being all shook up.
