Police have arrested two males after a high speed chase through Chiswick. Eye-witnesses reported seeing two people on a motorbike speeding north on Turnham Green Terrace on Saturday (21 October) followed by a police car in pursuit.
The following day a police helicopter could be heard circling over north Chiswick and the Shepherd’s Bush area. Police later confirmed that the helicopter was tracking a motorbike that officers on the ground were pursuing at a safe distance providing them details of the location and a live video link to the control room. Officers in a marked car on "blues and twos" engaged in an authorised pursuit of a moped carrying two passengers around 5.35pm starting in Munster Road Fulham. The vehicle was believed lost or stolen and failed to stop for police. The National Police Air Service was authorised to track the vehicle's movements with officers in the marked car following from a safe distance. The pursuit ended safely in Noel Road, at the junction with Horn Lane in Acton. A specially trained police sergeant deployed a ‘stopstick’ to bring the motorbike to a halt and ‘tactical contact’ was made with the two people on the bike. Two males were arrested for failing to stop for police and dangerous driving. It has not been confirmed that the vehicle was the same one involved in the chase on Saturday. The video below shows Hounslow Police’s ‘Response Team C’ in pursuit.
