A gutless thief preyed on two elderly women as they walked home from shopping on the High Road.

The incident happened at 18.20 as the 73 year old victim and her friend made their way along Stile Hall Gardens. They felt the suspect come from behind and bump into them. Both women turned and the suspect grabbed the victim’s hand bag from her right hand and ran off.

One of the women gave chase but when the suspect got to the top of the road at the junction with the High Road, he got onto a black men’s mountain bike and rode off.

The suspect is described as a 20 year old white male, 6’0”, with short dark hair, wearing a blue hooded top and black trousers.
