Leslie Maynard has been found guilty of murdering fellow Chiswick care home resident Roy Barber.

Maynard, who was jailed for a minimum of 15 years, stabbed the 62-year-old grandfather Barber at the care home in Barrowgate Road.

The court heard how Maynard showed no remorse for his actions and saw Mr Barber as "lazy" and "a bit of an old woman".

55 year old Maynard had previous convictions dating back to the 1960s including various ones for possession of offensive weapons and violence and had been in and out of mental health care almost continuously for 25 years.

The court was told, "This was a man who should not have been in that home, he should have been elsewhere."

Concerns had been expressed about "what might have happened to prevent this tragedy" and how it might be stopped from happening again.
