Making it the first site in LBH to receive communal facilities
Chiswick Village has become the first site in the borough to receive communal composting facilities. The move underlines the Council’s Hounslow Plan commitment to making recycling easier and more accessible. The block of 280 flats received two large composters last month following a review of existing facilities, which was requested by the residents. Hounslow’s Recycling Team was also on site, along with Composting Claire, to provide advice and information on home composting, a Guide to Composting booklet and a range of items made from recyclable materials. Residents were also able to pick up a free five-litre or ten-litre kitchen caddy for kitchen waste (fruit & vegetable peelings, salad scraps, teabags and coffee grounds). Chiswick Riverside councillor Felicity Barwood, chair of the Chiswick Area Committee, said,“Composting in blocks of flats has been seen as problematic in the past, but this scheme proves that it can be done, and very easily. I’m thrilled that the Council is offering such a worthwhile service, and that Chiswick Village is leading the way.” |
