Huge Financial Boost for Chiswick House
Awarded £308,000 grant from Culture Recovery Fund
Chiswick House & Gardens Trust has been awarded £308,000 from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.
The funds will also enable Chiswick House to get ready to reopen safely to the public in April 2021.
In order to achieve their vision to be the place for ‘everyone, everyday’, Chiswick House have made several fundraising bids to statutory funders, Trusts and Foundations. One of these applications was to the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund; an unprecedented investment of £1.57bn.
This fund is to enable cultural organisations that have been affected by the Covid-19 crisis to stay afloat, providing them with support over a 6-month period to ensure that they can reopen next year.
The fund is supporting cinemas, theatres, music venues, museums, galleries and heritage sites.
For Chiswick House the money will allow the restart of the learning and community outreach programme and expansion digital activities and updating its website. It will also enable an opening programme of activities for all ages and for those that haven’t visited Chiswick House and Gardens before. In addition it will be able to train the visitor experience and volunteer team ready for a Covid-19-safe reopening and continue to invest in their team to secure future income.
Unfortunately, the funds do not cover the cost of repairing the playground but the Trust says this remains a priority and alternative funding for this project will be sought.. This remains a priority and one which fundraising will continue for.
