35 year-old Chiswick resident Stephanie Sanders is going to do something she has never done before and run 8.2 miles in the ASICS Kingston Running Festival for Ovarian Cancer Action.

This is a real challenge as is a complete novice over any distance let alone the equivalent of nearly a third of a marathon.

She is trying to raise £1000 for this worthy cause because unfortunately her mother died of at an early age from the disease. She has so far raised nearly £600 but she just needs another £400 to reach her target.

You can support her by going to her Just Giving Page.

Ovarian cancer kills 12 women a day in the UK, and survival rates are low at 30%, compared to 80% for breast cancer. The charity urgently needs to raise £10 million for the new Ovarian cancer action research centre at Imperial College London which is the UK's first ever research facility entirely dedicated to ovarian cancer.
