Biggest ever community open day plans to raise record amount for charity
Chiswick Park, the West London business park, is now gearing up to host its third annual Yellow Umbrella Day on Sunday 18 September 2005. A warm invitation is extended to the local community for the fund-raising event. Confirmation of the exciting line-up of events includes: Central to the day will be three special fundraising activities where all levels of ability will be catered for. The most temperate will be a gentle 5km walk, the ‘mini umbrella’ which should be achievable for most participants; the more resilient can opt for a longer, 10km walk, the ‘grand umbrella’; while those with energy to burn and stamina to match may enter the ‘runbrella’, the 10km fun run. All three of these activities begin and end at Chiswick Park and follow a picturesque circular route along the Thames. Sarah Green the Yellow Umbrella Day event organiser at Chiswick Park said:
Over 400 people attended last year’s event which was an outstanding success. This year’s event – sponsored by Singapore Airlines, Chiswick Park developers Stanhope and Schroders, – promises to exceed last year’s efforts. Raja Segran, General Manager at Singapore Airlines (UK and Ireland) said: “As a member of the local community for over 30 years, Singapore Airlines is proud to be supporting Yellow Umbrella Day 2005 and its efforts to raise funds for children's charities including the Shooting Stars Children's Hospice with whom we have an ongoing association” The entertainment and the mini umbrella, grand umbrella and runbrella all start at 11am on Sunday morning – and advance registration is necessary.
