Resulting closure of A4/M4 leads to heavy traffic across West London

A motorcyclist is believed to have been seriously injured in a collision on the A4 near the junction with Sutton Court Road early this morning (14th December).

Unconfirmed reports say that the victim was hit by a taxi. The first indication of an incident came at around 7.15am.

According to a report on the BBC the resulting closure of the M4 up to junction 3 and to the Hogarth Roundabout led to a tailback eastbound of over seven miles and queues westbound back to the Hammersmith flyover.

The junction has been the scene of numerous collisions in the past and a consultation took place earlier this year about improving safety
