Baby boy left fighting for his life after lampost fell on his buggy
Hounslow Council have issued a statement following the horrific accident has left a baby boy fighting for his life. The incident happened outside Chiswick Town Hall. A lampost fell crushing the little boy in his buggy. The same post also struck a 62 year old woman leaving her with back injuries. A spokeperson for the Council said, “This is an awful tragedy and our heartfelt sympathies go out to the injured and all their families. The council is cooperating fully with the Police and Health & Safety Executive investigations.” The council is currently carrying out a Traffic and Transport Improvement programme in the area. The spokesperson said, "We have been waiting for Virgin Media’s contractors to move cabling in order to facilitate the works. No contractors were on site at the time of the incident." The Turnham Green traffic and transport improvement scheme was designed to provide faster journeys for bus passengers by re-routing some services away from Sutton Lane North. It involves changing several bus routes and improving the road network as well as providing improved pedestrians crossing facilities across Chiswick High Road, Sutton Lane North and Sutton Court Road, together with footway improvements at a number of locations around the Green.
