CHISWICK AREA COMMITTEE - MONITORING Meeting to discuss issues including West Chiswick CPZ, the Car Free Day and crime A meeting of the Chiswick Area Committee (Monitoring) will be held in The Council Chamber, Chiswick Town Hall, Heathfield Terrace, on Tuesday, 23 July 2002 at 7.30 p.m. Issues to be discussed include the much delayed West Chiswick Controlled Parking Zone, crime reduction, traffic restrictions in the Strand on the Green area and developments on new bus services. There will be an update on the latest progress on Chiswick Back Common tennis courts. Members of the Committee are also being asked to lend their support to the car free day planned for Chiswick High Road this September. A full report on crime statistics is to be presented to the meeting. Click here for a summary of the report. There will also be details given of the Crime and Disorder Action Plan framework. This has been formulated by the Chiswick Town Centre Group which comprises representatives from the police, local councillors, the local traders association and borough community safety officers. Initiatives like the graffiti clean up day are to be continued and youth crime in the town centre is to be targeted. There will also be a report presented on a proposal for a new bus route that will link Osterley with Acton Town via Chiswick Business Park using section 106 money from that development. The meeting also includes an open forum in which members of the public can have issues of concern raised. This takes place at 9.00pm with forms for the submission of questions available at the back of the hall until 8.30pm. The Monitoring Committee is made up of the Councillors for the three wards in the Chiswick area plus co-opted members of the public. At the moment Councillors in Chiswick are keen to recruit two voluntary community representatives to join the Monitoring Committee, discussing local issues and influencing decisions made by the committee.
