11-year-old Edward makes a small bit of local history
A schoolboy from Chiswick became the first member of the public to use the new footbridge at Chiswick Park this Monday (14 January). Edward, aged 11, was walking through the office development with his father Tom when they decided to check out how the bridge was progressing at around 3.40pm. Tom told us, “We were walking home through the park wondering it was finished as we got to the bridge, we saw the Enjoy Work team moving the barrier and Edward asked if we could go across. They said yes, so we did. “ They have lived in the area for over a decade and Edward attends a local primary school. Tom added, “After all the talk of this link for years, and watching it being built for months it was great to finally walk over the bridge. When Edward found out we were the first people over the bridge he was delighted, and felt really proud. And realised nobody else could say that! “ Chiswick Park – Enjoy Work said that, although the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the footbridge takes place on 24 January, the public is welcome to use it. CEO of the business park, Matt Coulson said, “We are pleased to announce that our highly anticipated Chiswick Park footbridge opened to the public yesterday afternoon. “Guests working at Chiswick Park were able to exit the northern end of the Campus using the bridge on their way home for the first time, last night. “The Chiswick Park footbridge will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. “The formal Grand Opening ceremony will take place on Thursday 24th January for a number of our key partners and delegates.”
