The Addison Singers Classical Choirs are planning a seasonal choral feast for all to enjoy.

The Chamber Choir are to perform the winter-themed movements of Jonathan Dove’s The Passing of the Year, Poulenc’s Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël and the ever-popular carol Sir Christèmas! in a setting by William Mathias.

Meanwhile the Oratorio Choir will present one of the choral repertoire’s most kaleidoscopic and colourful pieces, Poulenc’s Gloria and Bob Chilcott’s Christmas Oratorio.

The concert is taking place on Saturday 7 December at 7.30pm at St Peter's Church, Southfield Road, W4 1BB.

The Addison Singers’ Music Director for classical, Matthew Thomas Morgan, who will be conducting on the night, said, “In the summer we were proud to join with the Jazz Choirs of the Addison Singers to present Festival of Music which offered us new and exciting performance opportunities. We covered a wide range of musical styles and showcased individuals performing in both Jazz and Classical styles. This The Chamber Choir introduce our concert with Sir Christèmas! a rousing invocation of the season. The Oratorio Choir take on a modern classic and an oratorio which surely will become a staple of the choral repertoire. Poulenc’s Gloria is as exhilarating as it is intricate, a wonder of word-setting and harmonic colour, something truly as kaleidoscopic as the lights on a Christmas tree! Meanwhile, Bob Chilcott’s Christmas Oratorio is a modern adaptation of the Christmas story, vibrant and heartfelt in equal measure. These pieces are all characterised by their wide textural and dramatic scope. We very much hope that you enjoy the programme.”
