Popular Scandinavian store applies for permission to change store front on High Road
A planning application has been made to Hounslow Council to install a new shop front on the former Blacks store at 378 Chiswick High Road, meaning that a Tiger store on Chiswick High Road is an imminent prospect. The application has been made in the name of Mr. Philip Bier, who is the Managing Director of the popular Tiger UK chain. The application was submitted on the 30th July 2013 and is currently pending approval by Hounslow Council. Once this goes through, Chiswick residents can expect to see the new store opening its doors soon after. Tiger opened their first store in Copenhagen in 1995 and their first UK Store in Basingstoke in June 2005. Since then they've opened another 20 stores in the South East, as the business continues to grow. Mr. Philip Bier is the Managing Director of the UK Chain, and he joined Tiger 8 years ago specifically to bring the brand to the UK, remortgaging his house in order to do so. Since then the chain has gone from strength to strength, and is renowned for its excellent approach to honest pricing (everything is sold in whole pounds and nothing in the shop is priced above £30) and product quality. Tiger's website states that their mission is to make "the point that cheap and cheerful can be achieved, and at the same time sell stylish own branded products in a fun environment at astonishing low prices. [They] sell items that are practical, fun, decorative and encourage creativity, from homeware, kitchenware, stationery, toys and hobby items. Tiger like to amaze [their] customers at what is possible for the low prices. Customers find great service and a store design that makes [customers] want to browse," and promise that they "don't shout about [their] prices, but let our customers make their own judgement." It's a big statement, full of intent, but what can be ascertained for certain, based on the success of the Hammersmith store, is that when this new Tiger store does open its doors in W4, there will be much for Chiswick residents to look forward to.
