Company says it wishes to be a positive force in the local community
The store had a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. but the manager said that people had started to come in looking for coffee from 8 am so they had served them. They will open from 5 am on weekdays and at 6am on weekends until 8.30 pm. A representative from the recycling charity Hubbub officially opened the new coffee shop. In April 2017 the charity launched the Square Mile Challenge in London which has recycled over 4 million cups, supported by coffee retailers including Starbucks. When news broke that Starbucks was to move into the former Fat Face premises, there had been local dismay, but the manager said the response today had been encouraging. Asked whether there was a need for another Starbucks in the area, given the difficulties faced by independent cafes, he commented: "Chiswick people do like to drink coffee. We think there is room for all." He said they also wanted to be a positive force in the community. "Every Starbucks store is part of a community and we take our responsibility to be good neighbours seriously. We want to be invited in where ever we do business and be a positive force for bringing together our partners, customers and the local community every day. "
