Not the Trump inauguration but the closure of gadget shop The former Menkind premises in Chiswick
The recently opened store specialising in gifts for men on Chiswick High Road has closed down. Menkind, stocked a range of gifts and gadgets including mini-drones and virtual reality products. It opened on 29 October in the premises formerly occupied by Baby Gap. The company say it was always their intention to operate the Chiswick store as a pop-up outlet to take advantage of Christmas sales although they did not disclose this at the time of the opening. They still have a store already in the Westfield Shopping Centre which is one of 56 outlets currently operating. Chiswick was one of 6 new shops opened in the space of just over a week in Brent Cross, Staines, Swansea, Sutton Coldfield and Carlisle. The ground floor retail unit they have vacated is nearly 2,000 sq feet, with three upper floors, currently arranged with two flats per floor. An overseas investor acquired the freehold interest in 260-262 Chiswick High Road from private clients of Capita Real Estate, for £5.5 million earlier this year. January 22, 2017
