Jimmy Fairly taking over former premise of estate agent Design for the frontage of the new shop from the planning application
A planning application has been submitted by a French-owned chain of opticians for a new shop on Turnham Green Terrace. A branch of Jimmy Fairly is likely to open at 68/70 Turnham Green Terrace in the former premises of John D Wood estate agents which has moved its local branch across the road. Jimmy Fairly describes itself as the ‘coolest optician in town’ and has ten branches in the UK, mainly in upmarket districts, as well as a network in France. It says its focus is on modern, casual and contemporary affordable good design and new ranges on offer will be made of eco-acetate made with an ‘incredible new process’ it claims to have discovered combining acetate with a plant based and bio-degradable composition. The chain’s shops are usually individually designed and the planning application says that ‘very high end’ materials will be used and that the façade will be in keeping with the neighbouring units.
Further along Turnham Green Terrace, there is a new tenant for the unit occupied by the short-lived Pianta restaurant. Whitman Commercial says the site is under new ownership and there will be a new business opening there soon.
