The Co-Op has opened its supermarket in the ground floor of an office block opposite Gunnersbury station today (5th July).

This is the first of two branches of the chain to open in Chiswick - work has now started on the next store at Burlington Parade opposite Chiswick Station.

The new store opened today is at 578 – 586 Chiswick High Road and close to Chiswick Park.

The Friends of Gunnersbury Park were invited to help cut the ribbon to officially open the shop today.

The connection is that the Museum’s planned Gunnersbury Quilt project is one of the causes supported by the Co-op’s Local Community Fund. Every time Co-op members shop there one per cent of what they spend on certain own-brand products and services goes into this fund; together with money from shopping bag sales, this helps to support local projects.

Members can choose which cause they want to support. The quilting project is eligible until October 2018 and has already been allocated over £1,100; their target is for at least double that sum.
