Using CBD to help people suffering with wide ranging conditions(Ad)

CBD, or cannabidiol, has been described as a revolution, helping people who suffer with conditions as wide ranging as Altzeimers and Parkinsons, but what is behind the recent trend? We talk to Simon Blunt, General Manager of Origin'40, a Chiswick High Road based retailer specialising in CBD advice, to help steer us towards a better understanding.

Hello Simon, so, why do people need advice from you on using CBD?

Hi, thank you for having me. CBD can be quite complex, there are lots of misconceptions around CBD and its relationship to cannabis as you might imagine and there are a lot of products out there with a wide range of characteristics. We work closely with Professor Mike Barnes who is a neurologist and leading cannabis physician. Mike works with all our store teams to provide them with an in-depth knowledge of CBD, this combined with our experience, enables us to help customers choose the products that are best suited to their needs.

You mentioned Cannabis, what is CBD and why is it legal?

CBD is one of over 50 naturally occurring oils found in the hemp plant. Although in the same family as Cannabis, the hemp plant contains no THC, which is the chemical that makes you high. CBD is completely legal when there is no THC.

Why would I want to use CBD?

There are so many exciting benefits of CBD that are being increasingly identified in studies. CBD is a natural relaxant, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Products containing CBD can genuinely help with reducing anxiety and stress, getting better sleep, calming your skin or they can even help with managing pain.

On your website you say CBD is a journey, why is that?

We passionately believe in the power of CBD to help people's quality of life but we recognise that the first product someone tries is sometimes not the best suited product for their needs. Often customers need to adjust what product they use, the strength or their routine before they home in on what works for them.
