In June, Local Hearing Professional Deepak Jagota will be joining a team from global hearing technology manufacturer Starkey Hearing Technologies to deliver hearing help in Armenia as part of a hearing mission. Deepak will be part of a team of 13 volunteers who will spend 2 days in Yerevan before travelling to the city of Artsakh to spend a further two days delivering hearing help.

Deepak Jagota from Hearing World is one of the partners joining the mission. Deepak who returns to Armenia for his 3rd time says, “I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of the team returning to Armenia. In the UK, we have a first class hearing healthcare provision but Armenians do not have the same access to hearing care. Opening up a world of sound to those who with hearing loss can enable them to live life to their full potential and help them live happier, healthier lives”.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation was set up by Starkey Hearing Technologies' CEO and owner William. F Austin in 1984. The Foundation is dedicated to bringing sound to those who live in a silent world with no means to access hearing health a case.

Over the last 30 years, the Foundation has travelled the globe to more than 100 countries and cared for more than 1.1 million patients and provided 1.9 million hearing devices. It has committed to giving more than one million hearing aids to people in need over the next decade to continue positively impacting countless lives and communities around the world year after year.

It is supported by a host of high profile and celebrity names including Richard Branson, Bill Clinton and Elton John.

According to the World Health Organisation, more than 466 million people have disabling hearing loss, with the greatest prevalence living in developing countries. Unfortunately, less than three percent of these individuals can afford hearing aids or even have access to the care they need.
