Chiswick’s new sewing and craft café
Nestled in at the top of Sutton Court Road, just behind the town hall is Badger & Earl – Chiswick’s new sewing and craft café. Badger & Earl is the culmination of a lifelong love affair with needlecraft for owner and local resident Charlotte Pendred and you can feel the warmth the moment you walk through the doors.
For those who have not yet managed a visit, Badger & Earl is a café, workshop and haberdashery for anyone with a love of or interest in fabrics and needlecraft.
With its wide range of classes, it is the perfect place to try out something new, or remember and improve an old skill. Perhaps make a beautiful cushion cover for your home or put together a personalised baby quilt for a friend.
Badger & Earl also welcomes local crafting groups to come in and use its facilities. You can even hire a sewing machine for a few hours – perfect if you just want to run up a set of curtains, or do a make-do and mend job on your favourite trousers.
One of the first things you’ll notice are the beautiful fabrics, yarns, buttons, trims and all the many other things that can bring sewing and craft projects to life – regardless of your experience. Everything in the shop has been hand selected by Charlotte and her team to inspire you in your crafting.
If you are someone who prefers to buy rather than make, then don’t worry – there is plenty here for you. Badger & Earl showcases a range of locally made products including, quilts, bags, cushions and some stunning tablet cases. And if you want something a little more personal, just ask one of the team – they even take commissions.
Sometimes of course you just want to relax with a hot drink, a slice of cake and a browse of the internet. Badger & Earl have it covered with free WiFi, exclusive Arabica coffees, a range of teas from Chiswick’s own The Kettle Shed and cakes that arrive fresh daily from both Fidelma’s Kitchen and Sprinkled Magic. For the kids there are smoothies and juices galore.
And speaking of kids – there is plenty for them to do. They can take part in a host of specially designed kids classes, making everything from phone cases to pom-poms, have a very special crafty birthday party, or just relax with you, enjoying a nice drink and rummage through the toy-box.
Badger & Earl, in short, is a new, more social way to enjoy sewing and craft whether with friends or family. We can’t wait to see you there.
