Charity Christmas cards and advent calendars have gone on sale today at St Michael & All Angels church, Bedford Park - in aid of more than 25 local and national charities.

The Cards for Good Causes stall will be open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, from October 17th until December 18th. St Michael’s church is on Bath Road, Chiswick, W4, close to Turnham Green tube station.

Last year, the Cards for Good Causes scheme raised over £4.5 million for a wide range of charities, including many of the best-known names, such as Barnardo’s, Help The Aged, the British Heart Foundation, Mencap, the NSPCC and The Samaritans.

In the run-up to Christmas 2001, it ensured that 81p in every £1 raised from card sales went to the charities.

The organisers of the St Michaels stall, Janet and George Miles, are still seeking volunteers to help run it, whether on one-off shifts or a regular basis. Shifts last from 10am till 1pm, and from 1pm to 4pm. Anyone who would like to help is invited to ring them on 020 8748 9657.
