44 artists open their studios for you to view their work
One of the earliest open studio schemes is Artists at Home (AAH) in West London. Started by Mary Fedden and Julian Trevelyan in 1973, it now covers a large part of Chiswick, Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith. The group welcomes new artists every year; it also grows in reputation. In 2004 the event is being sponsored by leading residential estate agent Fletcher Estates and there are 44 taking part - painters, sculptors, ceramicists, photographers, textile designers and papier mache artists. The style of work ranges from traditional to contemporary. Prices range from £10 to £2,000. An illustrated guide and website help people choose which studios to visit. To give a better chance of visiting more, AAH is adding an extra day this year. Whether one is looking for something special or just enjoy chatting to artists and looking at their artwork in a relaxed informal setting, AAH is definitely a June event not to be missed. Studio Guides With map, addressses and an illustration of each artust’s work are available from 07956 953153 or from libraries, Turnham Arts and Crafts, Fletcher Estates Accessibility Variable.
