It was a extremely blustery Friday when we were invited by The Chiswick Moran Hotel's Head of Sales, Robert Russell and General Manager, Francisco Ventura, for a 'hard hat' preview of what both local residents and visitors to Chiswick can look forward to when this new hotel opens on Thursday 22nd June 2006.

Moran Hotels is a family concern, owned and operated by the Moran Family. Tom Moran, Managing Director, began his career in the hospitality industry in the sixties. The acquisition of Ireland’s first million pound pub, the Red Cow Inn in 1988 was shortly followed by a number of other high profile establishments the most recent being The Chiswick Moran Hotel.

Situated at the Chiswick Roundabout end of the the High Road, The Chiswick Moran Hotel will have a total of 123 rooms consisting of deluxe and executive bedrooms, junior suites and penthouse suites.

The hotel's interior (although currently covered in plastic wrappings and dust) is based on a 'West Coast meets West London' theme with chic retro accessories, dark wood paneling, and contemporary muted tones throughout.

The double height lobby area is the central point between the large bar area, library / meeting area and the restaurant which are all wi-fi enabled.

Polished marble floors, full height windows and an outside terrace adorn the 100 seat restaurant.  Called 'Napa' in keeping with the hotel's West Coast theme, the menu will be "traditional British with an American twist" although remaining true to their Irish heritage, a full Irish breakfast will be on offer.

The bedrooms have all been finished to the same exacting standards with funky accessories (flat screens come as standard), London landscape prints, crisp bedding and luxurious flooring.  Gadgetry enables colourful mood lighting in the sleek contemporary bathrooms each fitted with a separate shower with heads the size of dinner plates.

Aside from the commonplace hotel services, The Chiswick Moran Hotel can offer facilities for conferences and private parties in their first floor space which is bright, comfortable and most importantly flexible.

"It company policy for the Moran Group to recruit their staff from the area local to the hotel," said Acton  resident and General Manager Francisco Ventura, "and we are currently looking for local people to fill a number of vacancies.*

"We are also looking at using local suppliers as much as we can for example we will be serving Fullers beer in the bar."

Robert Russell added "The company chooses sites for our hotels very carefully and makes sure that we can bring something to the local community.  We are genuinely want to be part of Chiswick's great community and will be looking at getting involved in any way we can."

With that community minded attitude, there is little doubt that The Chiswick Moran Hotel will be a very welcome addition to our High Road.

*details of vacancies and how to apply for them can be found under the jobs section of chiswickw4.com.
