Summer months see prices on the up

The latest sales recorded for the Chiswick area suggest that prices have continued to remain relatively stable so far in the third quarter of the year.
The most recent figures available from the Land Registry show that during August the average sale price of a Chiswick property actually rose from July and is well ahead of the levels seen in April. During the summer there still seems to be interest in even the more expensive end of the market with a house on Heathfield Terrace changing hands for more than £2 million.
The figures do predate the financial turmoil of recent weeks and the volumes are so low that it is difficult to reach a firm conclusion on the market direction. However, the more apocalyptic predictions for the property market made earlier in the year have yet to come true.
One explanation for the rise in prices could be that the mix of properties selling is changing with fewer flats and maisonettes changing hands but demand remaining firmer for family houses which remain in short supply across West London.
