A new name for a Chiswick institution

Chiswick estate agents OliverFinn are to get a new name.From Monday, 8th September 2014, they will become Harper Finn. Why the name change? Owner, Christian Harper explains.

“I’ve always been the face of OliverFinn and people often ask me why my name isn’t part of the company name. I thought it was about time I changed it.

Christian is very much ‘Mr Chiswick’. He lives and works here and, over the last 23 years, has sold or let a property in virtually every street in W4. He is regularly asked to comment on property issues by local and national media.

He started the agency in 2007 and caused something of a revolution in the Chiswick property market by charging a fixed fee instead of the usual percentage-based fees charged by the high street agents. Since those early days, over 1000 property owners have benefited and he has saved Chiswick people over £1 million in estate agent fees.

You won’t find Harper Finn on the high street. Christian refuses to open a shop as he thinks Chiswick people would rather see a butcher or baker than another estate agent’s office.

“83% of our business comes from personal recommendations so there’s no need for a posh showroom”, he says.

“Anyway, I like to make the effort to go and see my clients where and when it suits them. It’s all part of the Harper Finn service.
