Meads Win Multi-team Challenge Against Civil Service Take Eric Young Trophy courtesy of victory in five matches
Old Meadonians proved their fifth multi-team challenge against near neighbours Civil Service for the Eric Young Trophy is a step forward from the normal run of preseason friendlies. Usually they just serve to shake off last year’s dried mud from players’ boots, but this year eight Civil Service teams from the other side of the railway at Riverside Lands were hosted on Saturday. Meads won the challenge by five games to two with the first teams drawing 2-2 to retain the honours for a third year. With first team manager Luke Graham away on a scouting trip co-coach Ali McCombe was flying solo and expressed himself as satisfied with service given by a squad missing eight players from his eventual line-up. A further challenge has been issued to Polytechnic on the other side of the A316. August 23, 2016 |
