Amateur Football Combination Premier Division - Enfield Old Grammarians 1 Old Meadonians 1
Old Meadonians’ manager Luke Graham was a tad taciturn at his post match briefing, suggesting that his team needed to add a bit of self belief to their burgeoning talents which, although they are beginning to bring together, lack the self esteem necessary to pull the mix into shape. This was a match between Meads, third from the top and Enfield third from bottom and there is no doubt where the points should have gone. After the opening phoney twenty minute war it was the hosts who took the initiative with a hay-maker over the top which, coupled with an accurate cross and good header at the far post, suckered the visitors. Meads’ reply came after ten minutes of prolonged pressure when sub Ryan Bright was upended in the box, got up and hastily put the spot kick to close to the keeper. Now Meads kept up their siege which extended until fifteen minutes into the second half when, following a hand intercepting the ball in Enfield’s area, the ref offered the visitors another chance to equalise which John Shea accepted gratefully. Squad: Robinson, Goode, Mace, De Coteau, Gerrish, Shea, Greenslade, Boynton, (Bright), Brennan, (Richardson), Gowers, Wilson. October 20, 2015 |
