Chance to see Olympic players in action
A Chiswick sports grounds is playing host to an international hockey competition which will give locals a chance to see Olympic hockey stars just prior to the 2012 Games. The Investec London Cup takes place from 5-10 June at the University of Westminster Quentin Hogg Memorial Sports Grounds. The games will see Great Britain pitted against the World Number Three team from Germany, as well as the South African team, who are ranked twelfth in the world and are current African Champions. More than half a million people watched on TV as Great Britain's women won the silver medal at the Champions Trophy, as hockey gains in popularity. The organisers say it will be a perfect day out with friends and family over the Jubilee weekend, and a way to support Great Britain in the build up to the Games. The Teams also include former Olympic Champions, the Netherlands, currently ranked Number One in the world, Commonwealth Champions Australia (ranked 7th) and Ireland (4th). Tickets range in price from £5 to £20 and can be booked on 0844 499 Booking fees apply on all purchases.
