Plans for a new international hockey tournament in London have been unveiled by the sport's governing body in England.

The inaugural London Cup, which is set to take place in Chiswick between July 12th and July 16th, will involve matches between the host nation, New Zealand, South Korea and Belgium.

England Hockey intends to use the competition as a test event for the Olympic Games, giving the squad a chance to prepare and boosting the profile of the sport in the run-up to London 2012.

"The team is getting increasingly excited about this opportunity to play in London, especially with the London 2012 Olympics only a year away," said England captain Barry Middleton in a statement.

Pitches at the University of Westminster's Quintin Hogg Memorial Sports Ground will provide the venue for the London Cup.

Ticket prices will start from £10 for adults and £5 for those under the age of 15.
