Hockey result : PHC Chiswick 2 Maidenhead 0
PHC Chiswick played host to third placed Maidenhead in the most important game in the second half of the season so far. Chiswick started brightly and put the pressure on the Maidenhead defence from the start and forced a number of short corners and in the 16th minute a well worked move down the right hand side of the pitch resulted in a corner from which Mitch Jamieson scored his 9th goal of the season. The Chiswick teams work rate when not in possession was one of the main factors they kept putting the Maidenhead defence and midfield under pressure and in the 25th minute John Cowie was able to win another corner after some good work down the left involving Martin King and Dan Loman. Another well worked routine resulted in Chiswick's 2nd goal through Dharmesh Puna and Chiswick were able to go into the half time break two nil up. Chiswick new that Maidenhead would come out strong in the second half but whilst they had plenty of possession they failed to create any chances of note and Chiswick were also able to create a number of good open play chances of their own which they couldn't convert into goals and Chiswick eventually ran out comfortable 2-0 winners. PHC Chiswick coach Chris Hovington commented "This was one of the strongest performances of the season so far given the meaning of the match and we are now 9 points clear of third placed Maidenhead and 8 ahead of second placed Eastcote, who we play next week. We have 5 games left and the guys are playing some good confident hockey and Saturdays game will be another tough game".
