PHC Chiswick travelled to Staines in an important away game on Saturday and came away 2-1 winners despite having much of the possession and control of the game. PHC Chiswick started strongly and created a number of openings inside the Staines 25 yard area but couldn’t create a decent chance until the 17th minute when Darmesh Puna converted a short corner.

Continued pressure eventually paid off when forward Ashley Holman converted an open play goal to put the away side 2-0 up. Despite Chiswick maintaining much of the ball, some excellent build up play went unrewarded as the final pass was never accurate enough to create any further chances in the first half.

Chiswick again came out in the 2nd half much the stronger team but failed to convert the pressure into goals. Some excellent work down the right side of the pitch from Tom Lemaire, Mitch Jamieson and Martin King created half chances but the final pass was never good enough.

This eventually let Staines into the game and they scored a weak goal from a short corner with 10 minutes remaining. Chiswick then managed to hold on for another valuable 3 points to stay 4 points ahead of 2nd place Eastcote and 6 ahead of 3rd place Maidenhead, who have a game in hand.

PHC Chiswick have a tough home game against Sonning this weekend who have the best defensive record in the league having only conceded 12 goals and will have to concentrate on making more of their possession if they are to come away with a result.
