Chiswick & Latymer Cricket Club regain top spot in division
Chiswick and Latymer 1st XI regained top spot in division 2A of the Morrants Thames Valley League with a fine team performance against Burnham on Saturday. Batting first on a tricky pitch, Chiswick scored 219-9, Bruce Frederick top scoring with 56. Hussan Abbas lead the way for Burnham with 76, before being dismissed by Frederick, who picked up 2 further wickets to cap a fine match. 25 points for Chiswick and a 2 point lead in a very tight division. Chiswick and Latymer 2nd XI picked up valuable points in a draw against Odiham and Greywell. Shibu Chacko made his first hundred for the club (108), with good support from skipper Matti Watton (50) in Chiswick’s total of 299-8. Both sides pushed for the win, Luke Redman taking 5 wickets, and Odiham ending only 27 runs short at the end of the 48 overs. Meanwhile, Chiswick 3rd XI kept their promotion hopes alive with a 3 wicket win at Chalfont St Peter, a century partnership for the seventh wicket between skipper Toby Clarke (52) and Craig Tucker (56*) seeing Chiswick home. The 4th XI drew against Teddington Town, with Aaron Sheikh (65) and Alex Brown (51) starring with the bat. The 5th XI had a 23 run loss at Farnham Common.
