A new restaurant has opened in Chiswick. The Sparrow Cafe is located on the former site of Pete's Café on Acton Lane, opposite Steele Road. The Sparrow Cafe offers a variety of English food, ranging from traditional fry-ups to enormous omelettes.

The venue also provide daily specials, which can be seen from their Facebook page and the new cafe is already proving popular with locals.

Kaya and her team

Owner Kaya says she is delighted to be serving in Chiswick, having spent ten years as a chef in London. This is her second restaurant, as she also helps run Harry’s Café in Acton. She declares proudly that they use meat sourced only from local butchers, and insists on using no frozen food.

The café name was inspired by the notoriously peckish birds, when the owners noticed some hungry sparrows eating off plates during a trip to Spain.

There are plans for a possible ‘man vs food’-style eating competition, involving consuming phenomenal quantities of food, a prospect Kaya believes could become a local staple.

Once local construction work is complete the Sparrow hopes to open its garden area behind the restaurant.

Residents have welcomed the new cafe, particularly in a week when two independent restaurants in Chiswick announced their closure. (http://www.chiswickw4.com/default.asp?section=leisure&page=lamanchaclosure003.htm).
