At London Restaurant Awards ceremony hosted by Jack Dee
Sam’s Brasserie and Bar was named the best value restaurant in the capital last night at The London Restaurant Awards. Although the awards are in their 10th year, 2008 saw the introduction of The Evening Standard’s "60 under £60" prize for restaurants where two people can eat two courses with a bottle of wine for less than £60. Presenting the award to Sam Harrison, Atomic Kitten and Celebrity Masterchef winner Liz McClarnon said it was the "most important award of the night". "The average person could not afford to eat at half the restaurants that won awards tonight. If restaurants want to bring people in they have to lower their prices and up their standards," she said. Judges, chaired by the Standard's food critic Fay Maschler, picked Sam's from a shortlist voted for by Standard readers. Sam Harrison told ChiswickW4.com, “We are all absolutely thrilled at Sam’s to have won this award. I would like to thank all of customers who voted for us and their continued support- it really means a great deal to us. He continued “What is really nice is that this award was meant to highlight independent restaurants who go that little bit further to try and offer their customers something unique in terms of the experience and value for money. “I know hard all of my team work every day to make Sam’s a special place and they all make me very proud-this award is really for them. I also hope that this award may introduce us to new customers who haven’t tried us before” The awards were hosted by Jack Dee and named Carluccio's as the best restaurant chain. September 2, 2008
