The High Road restaurant specialises in American style food
Chiswick's Jackson & Rye won the award for 'Best Eatery' at the Hounslow Business Awards at the Hilton Hotel last night (12 October). The restaurant is part of a chain which is built around a menu of American style cooking and a focal bar with a large range of American rye whiskey. Jackson & Rye opened on Chiswick High Road in 2014, filling the premises vacated by Jamie Oliver's unsuccessful Union Jacks. Chiswick was chosen as the second London outlet for Jackson & Rye after Wardour Street. There are now branches in Soho, City, Richmond, Kingston and Guildford. A spokesperson for the restaurant said they were thrilled with the award. Jackson & Rye is from the same stable of restaurants which include Strada, Cote and Bills and takes its inspiration from the cuisine of east coast USA with interiors of dark wood, a large cocktail bar and comfortable banquettes. The menu runs from breakfast to all-day dining and weekend brunches with menu staples including Burgers, shrimp 'n grits, crab cakes, macaroni cheese and steak and eggs. There is large selection of rye whiskey which its website describes as "the true taste of Old America". "It is the whisky that many of the first cocktails were made with and has risen once more to prominence as the interest in classic cocktails has grown." Now in their fifth year the awards, organised by Hounslow Chamber of Commerce in association with Hounslow Highways, aim to recognise and reward the achievements of the local business community across the whole of the London Borough of Hounslow.
