New place to eat offers treasures of a different kind
There is certainly no shortage of good restaurants and cafes in Chiswick but the new High Road Auctions Cafe has treasure of a different kind to offer. The Cafe is situated in the midst of a huge array of beautiful vintage and antique pieces, all waiting to be auctioned. After ordering your food, you could wander around, marvelling at the objects on show with a glass of wine in hand (at least that is what I did). It was a perfect lunchtime meal, not too rich or heavy, but perfectly tasty and filling. If focaccia is not your thing, then there is a wide range of alternative sandwiches, bagels and salads. Most of the Café’s lunchtime meals are priced around £4.65 mark which, considering the quality of the food, is great value for money. On auction nights the atmosphere changes from laid back to a lively buzz of excitement with the action from the auction streamed live on a big screen in the Café. With a small glass of wine costing just £2.50, you could enjoy a tipple or two in the restaurant and still have sufficient change to nip into the auction room to make a bid should anything take your fancy. I would recommend arriving before 6 to grab one of the best tables in front of the screen. June 18, 2011 |
